Russian River Cabin

Goat Rock Beach (On the ocean) Directions : From cabin, take a right onto Route 116 follow until junction with Highway 1. Left onto Highway 1, follow until sign (on right) for Goat Rock Beach

Ocean On the Shoreline Hwy. 1, about 7 miles west of cabin. Its not for swimming (the ocean can be treacherous, with dangerous “sleeper” waves an rip tides) but its great to walk along the beach. Directions: Go down one lane rd. to main rd. Right at main rd. (hwy. 116). Follow 'til dead ends into Hwy. 1. Go left there. Further on you’ll see sign for “Goat Rock” You can turn in here (its very beautiful) or continue straight on hwy. 1 and there are many turnouts for beaches.

River Beaches. There are many in Monte Rio, Guerneville, etc.

Kayaks can be rented in Duncan's Mills (to the right of the Bakery) or at Casini Ranch Campgrounds. Directions: From cabin, right onto Route 116 to Duncan's Mills, the first small town. Take a left immediately before train car on your left. Follow signs to Casini Ranch Campgrounds, stop at General store to arrange rentals.

Wineries Directions: From cabin, left onto Route 116, through Guernville, just east of Rio Nido, there is Korbel Vineyards. (Tasting, Tours, and Deli) Others are on the Rived Road, just east of Forestville, or north of River Road on Healdsburg Road, Westside Road, Dry Creek Road and Eastside Road. These are lovely winding roads that are great for a leisurely. Some of our favorites include Rabbit Ridge (Westside Road), A. Rafanelli (a bit past Healdsburg) and Z. Moore (on River Road, not too far from Highway 101.)

Westside Farm. Built in 1860, this farm is a great family trip. Directions: From cabin, take a left onto Route 116, past Guernville, left onto Westside Road. Continue 10-15 minutes, farm is on right. Note: In October, the Farm has a Pumpkin Patch and Hay Rides. During June, berry picking is open to the public. Also, animals and gift shop are open spring, summer, and fall. Duncan's Mills A charming small village from the 1880’s with restaurants, art galleries, a general store, bakery, rodeo, train car museum and more.

Armstrong Redwoods. A great place to hike, horseback-ride (details at the visitor’s center it the park), and bike (rent in Guerneville at “Rainbow Bikes”). Directions: Go down one lane rd. to main rd. left at main rd. (hwy. 116), go to end of Guerneville, left at Armstrong Redwoods rd. Go all the way to end of this rd. and park in lot. Cape Fear in Duncan's Mills. Great for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Moderate prices.
Directions:
Go down the one lane road. Right at the main rd. Hwy. 116 to the next town where you see train cars on left and a red general store on your right. Turn right here. This is Duncan's Mills. Park in lot.

Applewood Inn Restaurant just outside Guerneville. A bit more fancy, more pricey, excellent food.
Directions: Go down one lane rd. to main rd. Left at main rd. (hwy. 116), go just past Guerneville, turn right toward Sebastapool, up a ways on left. Turn left at Applewood sign.

La Tapatia Taqueria in Guerneville. Inexpensive, good food. 16632 Main St.
Directions: Go down one lane rd. to main rd. Left at main rd. (hwy. 116) 'til just before main part of Guerneville, past Ferngrove cabins, Taqueria is on left.

Sizzling Tandoor an Indian restaurant near Jenner, about 7 miles from cabin. It is fairly good and has nice view of river.
Directions: Go down one lane rd. to main rd. Right at main rd. (hwy. 116), go past Ducans Mills to dead-end of 116. Take left when it dead ends. In little ways, restaurant on left.

Corks Restaurant and Russian River Winery, in Forrestville. A bit expensive and farther away, but excellent food....worth the drive. 4-course meal or can order one course, or two can split a 4-course meal. 5700 Hwy. 116. phone: 707 887 3344
Directions: Go down one lane rd. to main rd. Left at main rd. (hwy. 116), just past Guerneville go right towards Sapastapool to stay on 116. Its quite a ways near the town of Forrestville. Watch for a sign that says “Corks” and “Russian River Winery.”

The River’s End in Jenner. phone 707 865 2484. Has good reputation and great views, but a bit pricey. Directions: Go down one lane rd. to main rd. Right at main rd. (hwy. 116), 'til it deadends. Right towards Jenner (hwy. 1) restaurant is just past the tiny town of Jenner and watch carefully for sign on left.
